    • Assessment Overview The assessment will be based on preparatory work and  a structured interview. Interviews are to be arranged accordingly between applying TAs and Qualified Assessors.   While the preparatory work is entirely flexible, interviews generally take a minimum of 1 hour. In structured interviews, assessors use standard questions and apply standard scoring, designed to increase accuracy, fairness and objectivity. The assessors will ask you a series of questions regarding DCAF Standards/Framework. At least one trained assessor will conduct the assessment. A second trained assessor may either be present during the assessment or evaluate the assessment afterwards. Be aware that the interviewers may interrupt you during the interview to keep you on track. This is entirely for your benefit to ensure you discuss the areas relevant to the scoring. This will ensure you have the opportunity to earn full credit for your competence. The assessors will also be taking notes to ensure they are able to accurately score your assessment. Assessors will revisit back this module and close out the module by grading (pass/fail) the assessment with scoring and written feedback. Preparation All participants are expected to have a solid familiarity with DCAF, HSSE CF, DEM-1, DEM-2, DEPs prior to being assessed. As pre-work: Participants can download the preparatory sheets i.e. UNIT 1 to start drafting your self assessments. Participants should be submitting the final assessment sheet in UNIT 2 to the Primary assessor at least 1 week prior to the interview which includes a brief overview of the project and/or asset you have worked on as a Technical Authority and whether this was as an Accountable or Responsible TA (ATA or RTA) and where: the application of DCAF was involved (or a similar control process) you had an active role. you participated over a significant time period, allowing you to be able to speak to a variety of the actions taken and decisions made. These can include current or past projects, assets and/or activities.  Prework: P reparatory  sheet As pre-work, participants are expected to download, draft, and complete a preparatory sheet that includes the following key components for each project/asset/activity in relation to the topic areas listed below: The goal or objective of the project or activity Standards used and if any derogations were required Specific items related to the application of the HSSE Control Framework on the project including but not limited to application of DEM-1, DEM-2, HEMP, plus (if applicable) Safety Critical Elements, Examples of the key deliverables for your project/asset activity and explain how you focused on the key elements for assurance of these deliverables, including but not limited to: Completeness of input  Competence and (when applicable) technical authority of staff doing the work Alignment with project objectives  Interfaces with other disciplines  Use and application of standards, including process safety standards Involvement of contractors / suppliers and their performance against expectations Application of new technologies  If applicable, examples of Technical Standards and / or Development Releases that you approved and the approval process that was used. Your role including any assurance advice you had to provide as a TA The roles of the TA1, TA2, TA3 in your discipline(s) in this project or on the assets you support. The team of individuals, including contractors, working with you on your project or asset. Other ATAs and RTAs for your discipline control points and how did this work in assurance review Interfaces between your discipline and other disciplines and how these were managed Challenges faced Actions taken Decisions made  Important Note: Submitted input will be reviewed as assignments by Assessors and will be used as reference for the interview assessment. If you have not worked with DCAF before please indicate which technical assurance process(es) you are familiar with and have applied on the project(s) / asset(s) you have worked on as a Technical Authority .  Assignments Participants are expected to complete required assignments i.e. document submissions to assessors, which will be used to be: accessed and reviewed by Assessors for scoring/feedback sharing purposes. stored for auditing purposes. Assignment Review, Scoring and Feedback The primary assessor (assessor present during the interview) will inform you about the result, "competent" i.e. "passed" or "not yet competent" i.e. "failed" of your assessment within 2 - 4 weeks of the assessment . In case, you have been assessed as "not yet competent" or "fail", the assessor will inform you about the identified gaps and in case of minor gaps development actions to close the gaps.  Th e primary assessor (assessor present during the interview) is able to: Access and review your submitted assignments e.g. assessment pre-work. Set fixed grades for close ended assessment activities e.g. online questionnaires or provide open scoring/feedback sharing. Inform you about the assessment results i.e. pass/fail status, showcase identified gaps and in case of minor gaps development actions to close the gaps. Manage relevant data and reports within the system. What happens if the outcome of the assessment is "not yet competent"? In case the outcome of this assessment is "not yet competent" i.e. "failed", your TA appointment or proposal will be withdrawn and if applicable you will be removed from the DAM.
    • Participants: You will be participating in Technical Competence Assessment process. Below is an overview of the assessment and steps you need to take in order to prepare for the assessment. Assessment Overview The assessment will be based on  preparatory work  and  a structured interview. Assessors will revisit back this module and close out the module by grading (pass/fail) the assessment with scoring and written feedback. Preparation All participants are expected to have a solid familiarity with the technical competences prior to being assessed. As pre-work: Participants can download the preparatory sheets i.e. UNIT 1 to start drafting your self assessments. Participants should be submitting the final assessment sheet in UNIT 2 to the Primary assessor  at least 1 week prior to the interview  which include assessed  competency levels need to be discussed and agreed with your line manager before it is sent to the Primary assessor. Assignments Participants are expected to complete required assignments i.e. document submissions to assessors, which will be used to be: accessed and reviewed by Assessors for scoring/feedback sharing purposes. stored for auditing purposes. Assignment Review, Scoring and Feedback Th e primary assessor (assessor present during the interview) is able to: Access and review your submitted assignments e.g. assessment pre-work. Set fixed grades for close ended assessment activities e.g. online questionnaires or provide open scoring/feedback sharing. Inform you about the assessment results i.e. passed/failed status, showcase identified gaps and in case of minor gaps development actions to close the gaps. Manage relevant data and reports within the system. Result Slip Participants will receive a result slip once assessors have completed the assessment. What happens if the outcome of the assessment is "not yet competent"/"failed"? In case a minor gap for one of the technical competences is identified by the assessors, this gap and development action to close the gap should be discussed with your line manager and recorded in your IDP. You will need to contact the Assessor(s) for another assessment attempt as soon as you and your line manager believe the identified gaps are closed (a maximum of 2 additional assessment attempts within 24 months). You will be able to assume your TA role, but you cannot sign off on those specific items that are identified as gap. You must then ensure that a competent TA is assigned to sign-off on specific items that cannot be covered by you. In case major gap(s) or minor gaps for more than one technical competence are identified, your TA appointment or proposal will be withdrawn and if applicable you will be removed from the DAM.
